Rin, 林 晃（はやし あきら）/ Akira Hayashi, is a Platform Engineer at Cybozu, Inc., working on the global kintone platform (kintone.com). He is based in Japan and works fully remote.
On the name “Rindrics”: The moniker combines “rin” (the Sino-Japanese reading of his family name 林) with “Hendrix”—a playful nod to Jimi Hendrix. Originally intended as “Rindrix,” it became “Rindrics” because that Twitter handle was not available; a small creative compromise that stuck.
Background
He was previously a researcher at the Japan Fisheries Research and Education Agency, where he conducted ecological research on sardines and anchovies. During that time, he also served as an enabling engineer supporting development of scientific calculation library for fishery stock assessment. This research background continues to influence his engineering approach: systems thinking, data-driven decision making, and understanding complex domain-specific problems.
Technical Interests
He is particularly interested in formal verification and using it to design systems that operate beyond the scope of individual applications. This philosophy shapes how he thinks about platform architecture and reliability. When time permits, he works on rebuilding the fishery stock assessment system using domain-driven design principles and microservices architecture—a personal project bridging his research background with modern software architecture.
